Bolt Action Late War Grenadiers #1

Now then,

I have had a good old painting session this afternoon, here are the results:

All the figures are Battlefront 15mm, mounted on 15 mm circular bases from Warbases. I really enjoyed painting these, and not a drop of dip in sight.

I have another 2 squads to get through, as well as MG42 teams and a Panzerschreck team. I have worked out a 500 point force, and i easily have enough models to make 1000 points. I'm planning on British to oppose them, but can't decide on standard infantry, Paratroopers or commandos...

Austrian Cavalry update

Now then,

Well, the Persians and Bolt action germans still sit on my painting table, awaiting their turn, as the 6mm Napoleonic Austrian cavalry has jumped the queue!

I fancied a bit of a change this week, so dug out some cavalry from the large pile of unpainted Austrians and managed to get them done!

Unfortunately i have now ran out of bases, so the 10th Hussars will have to wait a bit longer.

Heres some pics of progress this week....

First of all i upgraded the 3rd Hussars to 2 separate units, as it was the normal practice for large Austrian cavalry regiments to split up their units, a such a large mass was found to be unwieldy.

The 2nd Schwarzenburg Uhlans. Another very large cavalry unit, and again divided into 2 "divisions".

Heres a shot of all my Cavalry painted up so far.

Still to be done are the 10th Hussars (another large unit) and the 5th Chevaux Ledger, a slightly smaller unit.

The Infantry forces are nearly complete, with only 2 line Bns left to do, and 3 militia units.

The light infantry is in the process of being re-organised slightly, which will stretch the figures further and reduce the amount of painting still to be done.

Hopefully within the next month or so i will be putting in a new order to Adler for some French troops to oppose them!

Have a good weekend,
Steve

Spartan army update

Now then,

I've finished my 500pt Impetus Spartan army! With the addition of 2 units of Perioikoi Hoplites.

I have also made 2 command stands, so that i can use the army for Hail Caesar too.

I will probably need some more commanders, as I plan on adding to this army with another full contingent of Theban Hoplites, and some light cavalry too....

Time to get some more Persians done I suppose, on the painting desk at the moment I have 2 units of Persian colonist cavalry, and 3 units of Persian levy archers... Oh and my Germans for bolt action too.

Anyway, the full greek army can be seen HERE

Thanks for looking,

Steve

Bolt Action Late war Germans

Now then,

well, although i promised myself that I wouldn't start any new projects, i have caved in and bought not only the Bolt Action rules but having had a read through, I have got myself a few new toys too...

I have decided to go for 15mm figures, as they are so much cheaper, easier to store and I have the added benefit that I have all my terrain and lots of 15mm vehicles already for BKC.

So, i have got:

  • 6 Grenadier squads, each one having an LMG team, and 1 Panzerfaust, led by an NCO with an SMG.
  • 2 MG42 teams
  • 2 Panzershreck teams
  • 2 commanders (with an additional rifleman each)
  • 1 medic.

Also i have got a Puma armoured car, and for a bit of fun, a Panther G. Oh and a kublewagon, that was left over from an earlier project.

All this lot came in at under £30.00, so can't be bad eh?

Lots of painting to do, but im looking forward to cracking on with these. In the meantime i'm putting the finishing touches to my Greek Hoplite army, they should be done later today!

Cheers for reading.
