Rebaseathon Part II (10mm Britons)

Now then,

Here is part 2 of my mass rebasing madness. These have been finished a while but, like the Romans before them were never photographed properly....

So here we go:

4 Units of Skirmishers

6 Units of Light Cavalry

6 Units of Light Chariots

I normally mix the light chariots and cavalry up and count them all as being the same in TTS.

The main part of this army is the masses of warband infantry. 

I have 22 bases of warband infantry, each with between 24 - 30 figures on each base. No wonder they took so long to paint!

 I really like the mass effect with this army, whilst the miniatures aren't my best painted, its still one of my favorite armies.

A few pics of the masses! Infantry block in the centre, cavalry and chariots on the wings and a reserve of infantry waiting behind.

Re-baseathon part I (10mm Romans)

Now then,

I have rebased alot of stuff recently. I thought id best get some of it photographed and get the blog updated, as ive been neglecting it of late.

So a few months ago now I rebased my 10mm ancient collection off the old 40mm x 20mm warmaster bases to new big bases for To the Strongest, or Impetus.

So, without further ado, here they are:

Legions

8 Legionary Cohorts

Each Legionary cohort has 24 models, in 3 ranks.

To the right you can see the mass effect that can be achieved with 10mm!

Legion artillery

Veteran Cohorts,  these could be the 1st Cohort, or Pratorian guard units.

Slightly different figures, and ive painted them with white tunics to make them stand out a bit.

Auxiliaries

4 units of Auxiliary spearmen, pretty much the same as the Legionaries.

 I could use the Auxilley units as spearmen, or light infantry, depending on the battle being fought.

Auxiliary Archers

 Slingers

Mercenary Cavalry. (these are actually republican Roman cavalry....)

Roman Cavalry

The full army, including the commanders and heros etc, which are individually based.

The Prince of wales Regiment of Horse

Now then,

I sat up last night watching the tabletop commanders paint and chat session on youtube, and I managed to get another unit for my Royalists painted.

The Prince of wales's Regiment of Horse. A red coated unit, surprisingly easy to paint, as I think I have finally got the magic wash about right.

Anyway heres some pics.

Again this unit is made from peter pig miniatures, and is a mix of their cavalry packs.

As I have mentioned previously, the units in my army are a bit too "uniformed" but it speeds up painting no end!

The flag is from wargames designs, very nice flags indeed and pretty cheap too!

So there we have it, another unit done!

While I was watching, I also painted up these little chaps. They are 10mm Romans and Britons, to use as heroes in To the Strongest.











4 of each and individually based, they are like markers, or chits I suppose but look better than a cardboard counter.

Ancient Britons vs EIR, To the Strongest!

Now then,

Not a battle report as such but a few pics of our game this evening. Stuart popped down for a game of To the Strongest, and took control of the Legions of Rome whilst the unruly warbands of the Britons were mine.

Turn 1 saw the armies advancing, the British light chariots racing to outflank the Romans.

The blue beads are ammo markers, so in TtS units have a limited ammo supply. Although you can stockpile more in your baggage train / camp.

The Legions charge in, throwing their pilums as they do. The red beads denote disorder.

Here, the British hero is about to be unleashed, and promptly die....

 The light Chariots are bogged down on both flanks, on the left by the Equites Alares......














And on the right by the Legionary Cohorts.

Eventually the Legionary's were outflanked and the Britons rolled up their line. Just as the Roman Auxilleries started to have some success on the other flank.

Thats our second game of TtS now, and we are getting used to the rules, although a few mistakes were made. The Romans wont be beaten quite so easily next time, now that we have re-read the rallying rules!

I'm home, and a new page added!

Now then,

Got home a few days ago,  I haven't had the chance to paint anything yet, but I have dug up some old photos of my Roman and British armies, and made a new page, HERE

I'm going to be cracking on with some more 6mm napoleonic Austrians next, then i'm going to finish my 15mm Spartan army.

Oh, i finally got my hands on my blog prize from Phil, the hasslefree figure and a couple of bodyguards, thanks!
