The Analogue Hobbies painting challenge.

With 4 days to go until I embark upon my first Analogue Hobby painting challenge I thought id best update the old blog!

I thought id jump in this year, as a few members of my club regularly take part and seem to get a load of stuff done every year. So thanks to Dave Docherty, Martin Cooke and James Macmillan.

I have a ton of stuff that needs painting, a lead and plastic mountain that just seems to grow bigger every year, despite my best efforts to keep it under control!

So the plan.. in no particular order....

15mm WW2, halftracks and crews from Forged in battle. Also there are a couple of late war MG42 teams.

Just sat behind them are 3 Shermans from Plastic soldier company that still need priming.

Next I have some 3d printed market stalls that I picked up at the excellent battleground show last month, to go with them are 6 perry miniatures arab civilians.

4 games workshop savage Orcs and a couple of goblin spider riders, to be added to my SAGA age of magic Warband.

24 GW rohan warriors and a 3d printed character from medbury miniatures.

7 Riders of Rohan from GW.

16 wolf riders from Oathmark, I use these as Warg riders in my LOTR games.

A great big Balrog, ive had this one for quite a while, should be a real challenge to paint up!

A bunch of Primaris Marines, ive had these for a couple of years now, very expensive miniatures... about time I actually painted them methinks.

Finally, I plan to use the challenge to kick start my new project, The 100 years War in 28mm. These are all Perry miniatures and are a mix of plastic and metal models.

The whole lot. That should keep me pretty busy over the next few months, although im sure more will be added !!

Cheers!
Steve.

Warhammer 30K Emperors Children

Warhammer 30K

III LEGION

Emperors Children

Last year, my son and I decided to play some games of Killteam, but wanted to do something slightly different, so went with the idea of refighting some small skirmishes in the Horus Heresy.

Squad Sgt

Melta Gun

Sniper, this model is a conversion using the sniper rifle from the scouts sprue.

Comms Specialist

Legionaries

Heavy weapon specialist with missile launcher

Squad champion Lykon

The full squad

Another fun little project, i may very well expand this little force in the future, depending on what happens with the horus heresy game system.

I also aquired this model at a bring and buy for a couple of quid, i really enjoyed painting the grey armour of the space wolves and may (probably will) get a squad or too of these too.

Thanks for taking a look, whilst not really a GW player, i do enjoy painting their models, its a nice break when painting up a historical project. Anyway, until next time.
Bye for now.

The Aeldari

Now then,

I collected an Eldar army way back in the early 90s when I was but a youth. Since restarting my 40k addiction last year I have tarted them up somewhat. There were lots of broken models, all chucked in a box, and left for years. Ive always liked the models so it seemed a shame.

The mainstay of the army are of course the guardian squads. Mine are made up of very old metal miniatures from the late 80's and early 90's.

Supported by war walkers and a wraith lord.

Leading them in battle are the farseer and warlock conclave.

Of course no Eldar or Aeldari as they are called these days, would be complete without Aspect Warriors.

The most common type are of course the Dire Avengers, led by their Exarch.

Next up we have the Fire Dragons. Led by their Exarch with his fire pike.

Now we come to one of my favourite units, the Warp Spiders.

Swooping Hawks, useful troops, but fragile.

Striking Scorpions. My largest Aspect squad, useful as bodyguards for my characters or to be left lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike.

The Howling Banshees are another really iconic and cool unit.

My old Dark reapers. Led by their Exarch with his web of skulls!

Meghan Ra, the Phoenix lord of the Dark Reapers. A beast at range and no slouch in combat either.

My Rangers provide a bit of fire support with their Ranger long rifles.

And to finish off this little showcase of some of my oldest miniatures...

The Avatar of Khaine,  the bloody handed God.

I hoped you enjoyed this litte stroll down memory lane, thanks for stopping by and taking a look,

Stig

The Luna Crusaders take on the slippery Alpha Legion.

Now then,

The Luna Crusaders in action again.

Now then,

My homebrew chapter, the Luna crusaders take to the field once again, this time the battle brothers of the 3rd crusade group launch a pinpoint strike against the foul xenos, a genestealers cult. With their primary objective secure, they are counter attacked on all sides by hordes of foul mutants and traitors.....

Can they hold on until reinforcements arrive? See the link below to find out.

Orks.. lots of orks......

Now then,

I got back into #warhammer40k kind of by accident. I was innocently digging through some old boxes of miniatures, and stumbled upon my old eldar army, then my old imperial guard army. Whilst sat there contemplating my misspent youth, I thought, why not go online, and take a look.... what harm could there be?

Now I ve never stopped enjoying the background to the whole 40k universe, even whilst painting historical armies, I'd be listening to audiobooks from the black library,  such an immersive universe,  great stories, great characters. Anyway, getting back to the point....

I found a channel called striking scorpion82 on YouTube. It was just as 8th edition was being released, I sat and watched an unboxing of the core set, and a rundown of the game. And I thought it looked great.

So some digging about in my mountain of shame later, I'd found an unpainted ork starter army from a previous edition. Things escalated quite quickly from there.....

THE DEATHSKULLS

My ork army is from the Deathskulls tribe, and is led by warboss Bluetoof Irongut.

This particular xenos scumbag has amassed a sizeable force of similar cut throats and thieving gitz to his cause.

My army is now well over 2000 points and still growing. I'm not sure what it is about orks, especially in 40k, but they are so much fun not only to use on the tabletop, but also to convert, and paint.

Heres Bluetoof, next to his totem pole, which I also constructed out of bits....

A good looking lad I'm sure you will agree.

To break up the painting of the hordes, I thought it might be cool if I made some themed terrain to go with them, all scratch built out of foam board, pringle's tubes, bottle tops and other assorted junk.

The great thing is, if you make mistakes and it looks wrong, then for the orks it works even better!

BLUETOOFS personal transport, his morkanought. Surrounded by his dread mob.

I actually converted the morkanought so that I can run it as a gorkanought too.

Probably the largest model I've painted, and he turned out ok in the end.

Overall the army has taken about 8 months to collect and paint, though I've recently started adding stuff to it.

Theres so much variety within the army that it truly is one of those projects that will never be finished!

So, coming up.....

More lootas
More shoota boyz
Burna boys

I really should get some of those cool looking new buggies too....oh and some mega armoured Nobs.... and actually some freebootas would be cool too....

I hope your all enjoying whatever it us your doing with your hobbies, I certainly am.

I've made a video of my orks and chucked it on YouTube,

DA BOYZ

 Take it easy chaps,

Stig.
