Analogue Hobbies catch up!

 Now then,

So ive not updated this blog for a bit, heres what ive completed so far for the painting challenge, in no particular order.

So first up is 24 Rohan Oathsworn Militia. Old sculpts now but still look great on the table.

To go with them i have painted and textured some movement trays for my LOTR game of choice, War of the Ring.

Next we have some Orcs and Gobbos!

These are my Forest Goblin Spider riding characters. Ive been meaning to get these done for ages!

I especially like how the converted shaman came out.

Savage Orc Beserkers!!!

These are the random 4 Savage Orcs i had left over from my SAGA Age of Magic warband. I have painted them up as beserkers with the addition of the warpaint.

Some Terrain and civilians for my North Africa setup.

These are 3d prints I picked up at the Battleground show, I like to see this sort of scatter terrain on the table, markets, civilians etc.

The Civilians are from Perry miniatures, actually from the Crusades range. They fit in pretty well for pretty much any era though.

So, im enjoying the challenge so far, its keeping me motivated to continue getting through my backlog of unpainted stuff.

Cheers for taking a look,
Steve

A long overdue update. The Ops Room

Hello.

Im still alive.....

Its been a long time since i updated the blog, mainly because i havent had a computer.....but also because im a bit lazy.

Anyway, i thought id do a bit of an update on whats going on here at little legions towers.

So, last summer, I decided it was time to build a gaming shed. Lots of digging of foundations ensued, my enthusiasm waned somewhat when we realised we were digging through the old Quarry road......

But we cracked on. My two sons helping and my brother directing our efforts, we eventually dug out the foundations.

once the foundations were dug, we filled the hole with gravel and sand, and compacted it with a
 whacker plate.

Lots of timber, and the shed starts to take shape.  Layers of kingspan insulation are laid under the floor, before the concrete was poured in.

Starting to look like something!

Internally, cables were plumbed in for the electrics, and the insulation started to go into the walls and ceiling. A thick layer of kingspan, covered over with the yellow itchy stuff, which apparently helps to reduce the noise from rain etc.

Window and doors, and the roof is finished. (less guttering)

More cables and insulation....

once the cables and insulation were in place, the whole of the interior was covered in Thermowrap, the silver insulation rolls in the picture above.

Internal lighting and plasterboard, a very messy part of the whole build.

Meanwhile, ouside the soakaway was dug with channels for the drainage pipes from the gutter.

We had an idea to use bottles for some of the windows.... this involved cutting bottles in half, then taping them together forming glass "bricks".

Pretty cool.

Outside, with the drainage now in, and the gutters connected to the drainage pipes.

Internal stuff

The floor is laminate from B&Q and after an expensive trip to Ikea, I had some furniture.

These are Kallax storage cubes.

The desk is homemade from an old gaming table.

Now, with the Ops room complete, I dont know how I ever fit all my stuff into the tiny room I had in the house.

For a better look, heres a link to my youtube channel.

I hope you are all well, bye for now.

To the Strongest Gaming mat

Now then,

I have had a productive few days, firstly I have made a gaming mat for to the strongest, and ive also re based and reorganized my 10mm Ancient British army.

The army is compatible with Impetus as well, although I have reduced the depth of the mounted bases so I can get 2 units on a grid square in TtS.

Heres some pics.

Here is the full army set up on the new gaming mat. Although To the Strongest uses a grid, it doesn't have to be in your face obvious, I have tried to make mine as subtle as I can whilst still being able to see it.

Here is a closer look at the base mat. Its just a sheet of hessian, bought from a local material shop for about 2 quid. I just slapped some paint on it in various shades of green, then used a green permanent pen to mark the corners of the boxes.

Here are some more random pics!

22 warband bases each of 20 figures!

The light cavalry and chariots are pretty much the same in TtS, and ive ended up with 6 of each.

Next up will be my Early Imperial Romans, and another mat, this time a desert / arid one for the Crusaders and the Greek and Persian wars.

Cheers for looking

6mm Napoleonic update, and a bit of EPIC too!

Now then,

I have been generally plodding on with various bits and bobs this week, normal score really, im totally unfocused and cant stick with one project at a time....

First up I have done the movement trays I got from warbases a few months ago.

I have made a base for each of my line infantry Battalions, each with their own unit label so there is no confusion who is who during the heat of battle!

 Terrain update!

I have made a couple of small hills, and painted up some MDF templates to use for my woods, put together with my other stuff im thinking they look ok. I must remember to put a piece of paper in between the hills though, as the heat over here is making them stick together, hence the bits of damage on the tops of the hills....

Here is an Austrian Infantry brigade, complete with supporting position battery, in their new movement trays, with the Artillery taking advantage of the new hill.

The Brigade from the rear showing all the units labels, and annoyingly, the heat damage on the hill...

Close up or Infantry Regiment 46, in Battalion masse, holding an important road junction.

EPIC!!

Ive been continuing with the Epic stuff as well, the Novamarines are nearing completion, finally.

Bike company, 3 detachments of bikes and a bike mounted commander. The Commander is a conversion as is the bike itself.

2 Units of Imperial Robots. I had to have them in a different colour scheme, as the blue and white is getting tedious!

I have also painted up a test base for my Tau force...

Bloody difficult to paint, these figures are tiny, and have loads of detail...

EPIC PAGE

Thats about it for now,
Cheers for looking,
Steve.
